It’s been said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, so it is with gratitude and joy that we can report that great strides have been made toward restoring our front office and pastors’ offices. We are now able to utilize the offices and you will find staff working in our new spaces even as we continue to unpack and rebuild. So we thought you’d enjoy seeing some pics and hearing about the progress that has been made.
Although it is still a work in progress, we are pleased to report that we have purchased lots of storage cabinets ON WHEELS. We wanted to be able to move important documents quickly the next time a hurricane threatens, so it was important to us to get cabinets, files and even some tables on casters.
Please note: It’s only this week that phone lines have been repaired and phone service restored to many office areas. Also note, the doorbells and buzzers to let people in were destroyed and we are awaiting installation of a new wireless door entry system. It is best to call and let someone know you are coming to the office or knock loudly!
The front office area itself has been reimagined, with moveable workspaces rather than traditional desks. Our valued volunteers will still have dedicated spaces to do their work, but we’ve also been able to move our bookkeeper Paula back into the office she used to occupy before the Pastors came. That means the cubicle area she was in the last four or so years is being opened up, with a conference table that will be used when there is need for people to gather when the regular conference room is occupied.
In the copy room only a small section of built-in cabinets was installed in favor of mobile storage that provides counter top space. A flip-top rolling work table provides flexibility. The break room is restocked and open for lunch business.
The most complete area is Pastor Lisa’s office. It was important to the Pastors to have at least one of their offices up and running ASAP so they would have a place to meet with people that was private (instead of in the narthex!). Although she is still awaiting a credenza and hutch, the rest of her office furniture is in place. Stop by sometime and take a look, and experience the coastal feel she imagined, realized. Pastor Bruce’s office still needs some attention, as right now it’s a pile of boxes!
Thanks again for your encouragement, your generosity and your patience. We will continue to update you as we progress, but for now, enjoy these pictures.
