In Loving Memory of Margaret “Peggy” Wilgus

January 29, 1932 – April 20, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Margaret “Peggy” Wilgus, who passed peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 93.

Peggy was a vibrant soul, full of joy and charm. She was a gifted artist whose creativity touched many, leaving behind a legacy of beauty and inspiration. But perhaps even more well-known than her artwork was her skill with a fishing rod. Peggy was an accomplished and passionate fisherwoman, finding joy and solace in the salty air and the bay she so dearly loved. Whether reeling in a catch or simply sitting with the breeze in her hair, Peggy was truly in her element near the water.

At home, Peggy found peace on her back porch, where she spent countless serene afternoons watching the birds and savoring the quiet moments of life. She carried a light-hearted spirit and a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to all who knew her. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ were the hallmarks of a life well lived and deeply loved.

Peggy’s is survived by her sister Jean Lewis, loving daughter Patricia Wilgus Wood and husband John Wood and her devoted son Lewis Wilgus and wife Debbie Wilgus. Her memory lives on in her beloved grandchildren—Tammie, Eric, Jonathan, Megan, George, and Robbie—and her great-granddaughters Lillian and Adeline. Each of them carries a piece of Peggy’s (Nanny’s) warmth, creativity, and joyful spirit in their hearts.

A celebration of Peggy’s incredible life will be held on May 31st at 11:00am at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 4545 Chancellor St NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33703. A luncheon will follow to share stories, laughter, and the love that Peggy so freely gave.

Peggy’s life was a testament to living fully, loving deeply, and walking faithfully. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever with love.
