Remember those old picture directories that most churches would hire a company to come and produce every few years? Everyone would sign up for a time slot and get a professional portrait done and then the company would likely want to get you to buy a set of pictures for yourself. Well, the pictures were nice, but printed directories are out of date as soon as they are printed and someone’s address or phone number changes.
Years ago LCC switched to an online directory. It has the advantage that you can access it on your mobile device, tablet or laptop computer. And yes, for those who want it we can print out a hard copy. But an online directory can be constantly updated. And it can even be updated by the members. If your phone number changes, you can go in and change it yourself. You can swap out a better picture or add new contact information. Also, when the office finds that someone has moved, we can not only update our records at the church but (with permission) we can update the online directory so that hopefully our online directory stays current and reliable without people scribbling out and making notes in its margins!
Here’s how you get access and use our online directory: Our directory is provided by Instant Church Directory. The link to get to it is on our website at mylcc.com. On the home page on the banner at the top you will need to click the button “Church Directory” on the far right. But before you can access it or set up a new account, we have to list your email for our church account in the Instant Church Directory. Many of our members are already included. If you are in the Instant Church Directory already, you can follow the link from our website and login. If you forgot your login and password you can go through the process of resetting those.
To easily access the directory in the future, bookmark or save the website on your computer or tablet so you can easily load it up again. For mobile phone users, go to where you download apps and search for Instant Church Directory and then install it on your phone. Then you can have the church directory at your finger tips wherever you are!
Here’s what to do if you have not used Instant Church Directory before:
1) Follow the link and try to set up a new account. If Instant Church recognizes you it will let you set up a new account and create a login and password. If your email is not recognized you will need to contact us at office@mylcc.com or call the church to make sure we have your current email address listed in our Instant Church Directory so it will recognize you and let you in.
2) After gaining access to Instant Church you can save or bookmark the website or just always find it on our website. For mobile, download it from your app store so you can open it up anytime on your phone.
3) Once you are in the Instant Church Directory you can look your entry up and make changes to your contact information. You can even add a picture or change a picture.
Finally, for those you have trouble using computers, you can always contact the office and get help updating and checking your information. If you never use a computer for anything other than email, the office can print you out a copy—just remember it will immediately be out of date. Please help us keep our online directory current by using it and checking your information from time to time.
