Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels: As a church we volunteer one day a week to deliver meals for Meals on Wheels, a program of Neighborly Care Network. Volunteers through our church deliver meals twice a year, and have the options of delivering more often if they would like. Delivery of a route starts at Crystal Lakes Manor between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon and takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete. It is a wonderful experience, please contact Debbie Nash at 757-348-8858 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering.
Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse)
Operation Christmas Child is a yearly program that allows friends and members of LCC to send a “shoebox” Christmas present to a child in a needy country. Participants in this program pick up a plastic bin and fill it with toys, socks, and toiletries. The bins are then sent from LCC to a central warehouse and sent off to the needy children. If the participant so chooses, he or she can follow the shoebox to the destination: a happy child!
The Beacon House is the men’s shelter through the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. Established in 1997, Free Clinic Beacon House provides safe, supportive, transitional shelter to single, homeless men. Once every few months, members and friends of LCC gather after worship to make and deliver sandwiches to the Beacon House.
LCC’s Local Outreach Team (LOT) is kicking off a new volunteer program we’re calling “Handy Helpers”. Anyone interested in lending a hand OR could use a hand should sign up in the Narthex after service. There is no cost associated with help received from the Handy Helpers program. Help can include things like weeding, painting, computer/electronic assistance, simple carpentry/assembly projects, heavy lifting/moving, running errands, etc.
