All music for kids meet Wednesday nights during G.R.O.W.
Our youngest musicians - Our music program for younger children, Kids Leading Worship, is designed for children in Kindergarten up through 8th grade. This group’s commitment is to provide special music for our services once a month, as well as being the scripture readers for that day and saying the prayers. During our Wednesday night rehearsals, we divide into age groups and each group spends time singing and playing handchimes or handbells (depending on age). The kids learn music skills as well as making a joyful noise unto the Lord! We present two musicals a year (one at Christmas time and one at the end of the school year) which include drama for the older kids. We welcome new additions to this group at any time during the school year. This groups meets mid-August through mid-May, on Wednesday nights and may include dinner as well.
Our young adults - Junior High students (including 7th and 8th graders who take Sunday confirmation classes) can choose from bells, singing/drama and playing instrumental solos during either service. Senior high students can play bells (on Tuesday), and sing in either Chancel Choir or with the Praise Band.
Puppetz ministry meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 and is open to ages 4th grade and up.
Drama Ministry meets on Wednesday nights at 5:45 and is open to ages 4th grade and up.
Adults - No matter what your musical gift, passion, or level of ability, there is a spot for you in one of our musical groups at LCC:
Praise Band –The praise band provides musical leadership at the 10:45 Sunday worship service and includes singers, guitar & bass, keyboards, drums, and other appropriate instruments (saxophone, etc.). Rehearsals are on alternating Monday nights.
New Traditions Choir - Meets Tuesday nights at 7:30 August-May. This group provides musical leadership at the 8:15 and 9:30 services as well as special services like Christmas Eve and Holy Week services. We also prepare two musical services per year: a Festival of Lessons and Carols (First Sunday in Advent), and a cantata for Good Friday. During the summer, we have “Summer Choir” which meets at only three Wednesday nights during the summer.
Vesper Bells - Meets Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m., August-May. This group plays approximately once a month at the 8:15 service and offers a series of community concerts in December at venues such as Baywalk, the Pier, Sunken Gardens, and many others.
Instrumental Music/Soloists: May provide special music at Sunday Worship either with the choir (or other music group) or with an accompanist or CD/tape accompaniment and will be scheduled with the Music Director.
