Dear Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Cross,
Hurricane Katrina has passed, and the people of Louisiana, Alabama and
Mississippi are now in the process of trying to survive and rebuild
their lives. Our ministry needs to do all that we can to help those in
need.
We suggest that members give to the ELCA Disaster Response. Through this organization, 100% of all dollars given will go directly to aid the victims. Please make your checks payable to LCC and note that it is for disaster response. If giving
cash, please use one of the pew envelopes and write “Disaster Relief” on it.
ELCA Disaster Response
If you are a Thrivent member, Thrivent will match the first 300 dollars
of your donation. Please pick up a Thrivent form at the Information
Station and make your check payable to the ELCA.
We will also by collecting items to take to the area. Items needed
include: bottled water, nonperishable food, can openers, baby food,
diapers, wipes, over the counter medicine, first aid kits, flashlights,
batteries, candles, and trash bags. Please bring these items to
Fellowship Hall by Friday of next week. Our school families can donate
by handing the items off in the car line.
We appreciate your willingness to help. Your generosity will help the
people impacted by the storm begin the process of rising up and
recovering from this disaster. Please continue to pray for those that
are in need and for those people working in the relief efforts.

Ed Montanari
