Our vision at Lutheran Church of the Cross is ‘equipping all to grow in God’s Word’. There are four components in that phrase that impact the ministries and mission of our congregation. Those four parts also define our purpose, determine the reason for our existence, and give us our identity in the community.
Let’s take a glance at each of the four and what the implications are for us:
1) Equipping- if you are tackling a home improvement job, you need the proper equipment! So too a Christian needs the proper spiritual equipment. We equip people through any number of education experiences, asking people to serve on ministry teams, and provide worship experiences.
2) All- All is pretty inclusive meaning from infants to elderly, from members, school families, community residents, and snow birds. One huge implication is having three worship services (8:15, 9:30, 10:45) and two education sessions (9:15 and 10:25) every Sunday morning.
3) Grow- faith is like a living organism in that it is either growing or dying! The implication is developing an expectation at LCC that you are to grow your faith.
4) God’s Word- The Bible is our source for daily living and also the Bible is according to Martin Luther ‘the cradle that holds Jesus’. The centrality of the Scripture in equipping all to grow is critical to our identity.
That vision is pretty important! As you scroll through our web-site you will see how it impacts all that we do at Lutheran Church of the Cross.
